The Brief

Newell & Allen are a relatively new building firm based on the Essex/Suffolk border. Founded by two directors of pre-existing building companies, both with long experience in the building trade, they were looking for a brand and website which promoted a mid-high end designer and builder of outdoor living spaces, garden rooms, annexes, BBQ areas and more. They came to us with just a name; the rest needed putting together from scratch.

The Process

We began with the discussion of their brand identity. They wanted to look professional and distinguished, with a high-end aesthetic that wouldn’t be too off-putting for those with a more modest budget. Once we had a good understanding of their brand ideals, we then began with the development of the logo, colour schemes and fonts. Having seen a number of options, the client went for a soft gold text on a dark-grey background.

Once the brand was chosen, we could proceed with the design of the website. The site needed to reflect the brand; following the same colour schemes and general appearance. At the same time as the site being designed and developed, the client also requested the design and print of business cards for the two directors to give out to their current contacts.

Design for Print

The client wanted business cards that would match with their brand. They wanted something quite minimal, something without too many bells and whistles, but that still looked smart and up market. We designed their business cards to utilise both of their brand colours in a two-tone card. They were designed to be elegant, stylish and simple. They wanted the card to reflect the target audience they were hoping to appeal to.

This provided them with a card which they were exceptionally happy with. Giving this card to potential clients made the company look high-end, sophisticated and professional. Exactly what they were aiming for!

The Solution

The website, brand, cards and logo were all hugely valuable to the company. We were able to provide them with a brand that looked both high-end and established. Something that may have taken them many years to build up without the help of an agency.

The website is modern and stylish, giving them the look of a long-running company with plenty of experience under their belts. Though the company was new, the directors did have a combined wealth of experience in other companies which they could not openly display on the website. Therefore, the site was positioned to show off a lifestyle and image that would entice their customers in. Long-term, they plan to add a portfolio to the site, posting up information and case studies on their work. This will boost their SEO and general online presence as they add new, fresh content to the website.
