The Brief

Mutlows School of Motoring is a large and well-established driving school with instructors all over Essex and Suffolk. With such a wide reach they were keen to get a website in place that showed this off in the best way that they could. Their existing website was seriously outdated and in desperate need of modernisation.

The website had to be simple to navigate, simple to follow and easy to use. It would mostly be used by the parents of those looking to get lessons, so it needed to appeal to them and make them feel that they were a company worth buying lessons from. They wanted to get across the message that they were a company you could trust to help you or your son/daughter pass their driving test.

The Process

In the first instance, we discussed in detail the purpose and aims of the website, what it needed to do and how it needed to work for them. They were very keen to get across their coverage area, showing off that they had local instructors over a wide area. This they hoped would encourage anyone searching to pick them as they’d have an instructor in their local area.

As they had an existing brand and logo which they wanted to keep, we had to design the website to fit around that brand. So the colour schemes were chosen to match with the existing branding and logo. The site was designed to be modern in it’s feel and simple to work with, something they were very keen to ensure from the start. We developed a design for the site and once approved we were able to move onto the build process.

The Solution

We developed a website for the company that allowed visitors to seek out their local instructors and arrange to contact and book with them directly, rather than forcing them through a central office or number, which it was felt would only increase admin, it was decided this was a nicer way to go. The website was strongly geared toward data capture, the more details of prospective clients they could gather, the more of a pipeline they could build up.

The site also included a CMS system which would allow them to log in and make their own changes to pages, content, images and so on. It also allowed them to post their own news stories and articles on the site, this was tied into their considerations regarding SEO and their overall Google rankings.

Developing the blog function enabled them to take the lead in their own content production, helping drive their website in the right direction, it was also linked with their social media to allow an easy channel to distribute their content. This would help them reach more potential learners and therefore increase their chances of winning new customers.
