A recent report from Bloomberg suggests that Google is planning to change it’s platform to make Google+ Photos a standalone service. This would mean that you wouldn’t need a Google+ account to share photos on Google.

The trend is following the current shift in social media habits – Facebook recently split their Messenger App for mobile devices into a separate app meaning that you now need to have both apps on your phone to get the full ticket!

Google seems to be moving toward breaking Google+ apart, so quite how this will work with the presently SEO essential Google+ page linking with your Google Places page and your website is yet to be revealed!

In the meantime, it does appear that this trend across social media is set to continue! These multi-featured services are breaking down into split-off apps which are more focused on one particular facet.

Google of course have ownership of many apps, some created by themselves, others purchased and owned by them for the purposes of widening their offering.

But against what would seem like convention, these services are breaking down into simpler and more apps. Meaning your devices are only going to see this trend increasing, expect a Google Pictures App in the not-too-distant future and who knows maybe there’ll be a Twitter Hashtag app soon too!

The question we are posing here is – Are these companies breaking their apps down to meet with their customers wants or are they just trying to simplify and streamline their own processes so that each app can be worked on and developed individually?
